India’s Refineries Secure Crude from Oman and West Africa

Indian refineries are expanding their crude‑oil supply sources amid volatile global energy markets. Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemical Limited (MRPL) purchased 1 million barrels of crude from Oman at a price roughly $3 per barrel above the Brent benchmark. Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), the country’s largest refinery by capacity, bought 4 million barrels of West African crude supplied by U.S. energy firm Chevron.

These deals aim to diversify India’s import portfolio, ensure energy security and optimise feedstock costs. India remains the world’s third‑largest crude importer and a fast‑growing energy consumer, so its sourcing decisions are closely watched for their impact on global oil flows.
