India’s Skyroot Aerospace celebrates Vikram-1 orbital launch, government pledges domestic chips

Skyroot Aerospace successfully placed its Vikram-1 vehicle into orbit, marking the first orbital‑class rocket developed by an Indian private firm. Prime Minister Narendra Modi met founders Pawan Chandana and Naga Bharath Daka, praising the mission and the growing private space ecosystem. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that future launch vehicles will use domestically produced semiconductors, tweeting "'Made in Bharat' chips for our rockets... soon!".

The achievements underscore India’s push to expand private participation in space, supported by policy reforms, digital infrastructure, and a commitment to indigenous technology.
