India's smartphone exports to the US surge 47% in April 2026, led by Apple
India's exports of smartphones to the United States rose 47.2% year‑on‑year in April 2026, reaching over $2.43 billion from $1.65 billion a year earlier. Apple accounted for the bulk of the increase, with its iPhone production in India boosting the sector’s share of India’s total US export basket to 29% and supplying roughly 70% of all smartphones imported by the United States.
Overall, India’s smartphone shipments to the US grew 86.2% in FY 2025‑26, climbing from $10.56 billion to $19.67 billion. Despite higher production costs compared with China, Indian manufacturers remain competitive thanks to government incentives and the phasing out of preferential duties on Chinese phones.
These figures highlight the expanding role of India as a key supplier to the US smartphone market, underscoring Apple’s strategy to shift more iPhone production to the country.
