India's Sports Minister and Gautam Gambhir join 'Sundays on Cycle' event

Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and Indian men's cricket team head coach Gautam Gambhir participated in the 88th edition of the ‘Sundays on Cycle’ event in New Delhi on August 30, 2026.

Organized as part of the Fit India initiative and held in collaboration with BRICS, the event took place at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium to mark National Sports Day. The initiative was launched across more than 25,000 locations nationwide. Mandaviya highlighted cycling as a solution to pollution and traffic while promoting it as a primary method for maintaining fitness.

Gautam Gambhir described the government's program as a movement rather than just an event, stating that a fitter nation contributes to a stronger and more self-reliant India. Other notable participants included wrestler Sangram Singh and actress Madhurima Tuli.
