India's Tata Power and Premier Energies Expand Solar Manufacturing Capacity

Tata Power announced plans for a new 10 GW solar manufacturing project in Odisha, aiming to boost its revenue to Rs 1 trillion and profit after tax to Rs 10,000 crore by 2030. The company, which already operates a 4.3 GW solar cell and module plant in Tamil Nadu, intends to increase its total generation capacity to 30 GW, with clean energy already making up 66 % of its portfolio.

Premier Energies commissioned a 5.6 GW solar module plant in Seetharampur, Telangana, bringing its module manufacturing capacity to 11.1 GW for domestic and international markets. The firm also broke ground on a 6 GWh battery energy storage system and an aluminium-frame plant, part of a Rs 12,500 crore capex plan to deepen its role in India's clean‑energy ecosystem.
