Airtel drops Rs 299 prepaid plan, Rs 349 becomes cheapest option

Bharti Airtel has removed its Rs 299 prepaid recharge plan from the Airtel Thanks app and the company website, ending the most affordable unlimited‑calling and data offering. The discontinued plan provided 28‑day validity, unlimited voice calls, 1 GB of daily 4G/5G data, 100 SMS per day and bundled services such as free caller tunes and an AI subscription.

With the Rs 299 pack gone, the Rs 349 prepaid plan is now Airtel’s lowest‑priced unlimited option. It offers the same 28‑day validity, unlimited calls, 2 GB of daily data, 100 SMS and added benefits like six months of Apple Music, free Airtel HelloTunes and a year of Adobe Express Premium. Reports also indicate that the Rs 579 and Rs 619 prepaid packs have been withdrawn in the Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand circles, with the possibility of broader removal.

Airtel’s senior executive Gopal Vittal noted that the company may revisit tariff structures for low‑price unlimited‑data plans, citing concerns about capped ARPU. The move follows a period of price hikes across Airtel’s prepaid portfolio and comes as the firm reports strong profit growth and expanding operations in Africa.
