India's Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari mandates free part replacement for older cars using E20 fuel

The Indian government has directed automobile manufacturers to replace, at no charge, parts of vehicles built before 2023 that are affected by the 20% ethanol‑blended petrol (E20). Central minister Nitin Gadkari said the order counters social‑media rumors that the blend damages cars.

Gadkari acknowledged that E20 can cause a slight reduction in mileage because ethanol has lower energy content, but stressed that no engine failures have been linked to the fuel and that flex‑fuel engines perform normally. He also instructed that rubber wash‑ers be replaced free of cost during servicing.
