Indigenous and popular art exhibitions launch in Paraguay and Argentina

New art exhibitions are opening in Paraguay and Argentina to highlight indigenous and popular art traditions.

In Paraguay, the Texo Foundation for Contemporary Art and CAF are inaugurating the “Maestros del Arte Popular e Indígena del Paraguay – La Colección Texo” exhibition. The showcase features works from 11 national artists, including Blanca Noguera, Ediltrudis Noguera, and Julia Isídrez. The exhibition also pays tribute to artists Ishir Flores Balbuena Ogwa and ceramicist Juana Marta Rodas for their contributions to Paraguayan indigenous art.

In Tartagal, Argentina, the Centro Cultural de los Pueblos Originarios will host “Tejiendo Territorios de Memoria” on October 24. This exhibition features works by artist Claudia Alarcón, the Silät collective, and the Alianza Wichí network. The display focuses on ancestral textile art as a form of cultural resistance and memory, incorporating the Chorote and Wichí languages to honor the heritage of northern Salta weavers.
