Indigenous women honored in Mexico and Argentina

Various institutions in Mexico and Argentina are holding events to commemorate International Indigenous Women's Day, focusing on cultural preservation and legal rights.

In Mexico, the Secretariat of Women has completed a handbook on the rights of rural women to address historical inequalities regarding land and community decision-making. In Puebla, the State Congress held a forum to highlight the leadership and ancestral knowledge of indigenous women, including traditional healers and artisans. The Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro also hosted an itinerant program to promote inclusion and diversity on its campuses. Additionally, the Nayarit Congress recognized four women for their contributions to community identity and rights.

In Argentina, the Buenos Aires Legislature honored twelve indigenous women for their cultural contributions and career trajectories during a ceremony in the Chamber of Deputies.
