IndiGo passenger accused of tampering with emergency exit lever

A passenger on an IndiGo flight from Delhi to Pune allegedly attempted to open the emergency door lever cover shortly after takeoff, triggering an aircraft alarm. The incident occurred around 12:45 a.m. on Monday during flight 6E6884.

The accused, identified as 33-year-old Gaurav Satyendra Rautela, was seated in 19D, adjacent to the emergency exit. During preliminary questioning, Rautela reportedly claimed he touched the cover out of curiosity and was unaware it was connected to the emergency door.

Following the event, an IndiGo crew member lodged a police complaint. Authorities have registered a case against Rautela under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Aircraft Act. Police are currently conducting further investigations into the matter.
