Inditex CEO Marta Ortega stresses people as core value at shareholders meeting
Marta Ortega, president of Inditex, told the annual shareholders gathering that the company’s greatest asset remains its people. She said, "El verdadero valor está en las personas, en la creatividad, en la sensibilidad, en el criterio y en la empatía," and argued that human creativity and empathy outweigh technology trends such as artificial intelligence. Ortega highlighted a shared corporate culture built on humility, flexibility and criticism, insisting that growth must preserve the group’s identity and close connection with customers. She also thanked board member Rodrigo Echenique on his departure after twelve years.
Separately, Inditex faced a setback in a trademark dispute over its Pull&Bear "Sicko19" capsule collection. A Madrid provincial court rejected the company’s challenge to a registration of the similar brand name "Siko Studios," finding the average consumer unlikely to notice the minor phonetic difference. The court ordered Inditex to pay legal costs and left open the possibility of a higher‑court appeal.
