Inditex posts record first‑quarter profit and sales

Inditex reported a net profit of €1.375 billion for its fiscal first quarter (Feb‑Apr), a 5.4% increase year‑on‑year. Total sales rose 5.8% to €8.75 billion, while constant‑currency sales grew 8.8%. The group posted an EBITDA of €2.568 billion (up 7.3%) and an EBIT of €1.756 billion (up 7%). Gross margin improved to 61.2%, 67 basis points higher than the same period last year.

The results mark the 21st consecutive quarter in which Inditex has increased both sales and profit, a streak that began after the pandemic. Store count fell slightly to 5,456 from 5,562 a year earlier as the retailer pursues fewer, larger stores, and inventory grew only 1% to €3.812 billion. The company announced a €2.3 billion investment programme for store optimisation, technology integration and digital platforms. Sales in stores and online grew 11.5% on a constant‑currency basis between May 1 and June 1, boosted by a calendar effect. Management reiterated confidence in a near‑5% gross‑space growth for 2026 despite ongoing geopolitical tensions and consumer‑spending uncertainty.
