Inditex reports record €2.98 billion half-year profit
Inditex has reported record-breaking results for the first half of its 2026-2027 fiscal year (February to July). The fashion group achieved net profits of €2.98 billion, a 6.8% increase compared to the previous year, and sales of €19.755 billion, up 7.6%. At constant exchange rates, sales grew by 9.2%.
CEO Óscar García Maceiras attributed the performance to the effectiveness of the integrated business model and the ability to adapt to global complexities. Zara remains the group's primary driver, accounting for €13.783 billion in sales. While the company is expanding its low-price concept, Lefties, it is also optimizing its physical footprint, reducing its store count to 5,444 units as it shifts focus toward e-commerce and digital integration.
Despite the record earnings, Inditex shares experienced a decline of over 3% following the announcement. Analysts noted that while revenue and profit are strong, rising operating costs and a slight compression in EBIT margins—which stood at 19%—impacted market reaction. Bank of America has maintained a buy recommendation, raising its price target to €65 and citing a potential 20% growth upside.
