Weather agencies forecast storms and heat in Dominican Republic and Costa Rica

Meteorological agencies in the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica have issued weather warnings for the upcoming week. In the Dominican Republic, the Instituto Dominicano de Meteorología (Indomet) reports that a trough and high humidity levels will trigger afternoon thunderstorms, heavy downpours, and wind gusts across several provinces, including La Vega, Santiago Rodríguez, and Dajabón. Despite the start of the astronomical autumn, temperatures are expected to remain high with elevated heat indices. Additionally, light concentrations of Saharan dust may cause grayish skies in certain areas.

In Costa Rica, the Instituto Meteorológico Nacional predicts an increase in precipitation starting Wednesday. Driven by an active Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) and maritime instability, heavy rains and thunderstorms are expected primarily in the Central Pacific, South Pacific, and mountainous regions of the North Pacific and Central Valley.

In the Dominican Republic, authorities have also noted the presence of Tropical Storm Fay. While the system is being monitored, it currently poses no direct threat to the country.
