Indonesia accelerates agricultural land verification and free land certification

The Indonesian Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) is accelerating the verification of Sustainable Food Agricultural Land (LP2B), aiming to reach a 87 percent target this year. This goal exceeds the Presidential Regulation mandate, which originally set the 87 percent threshold for 2029. Currently, verification has reached 86.08 percent and covers 29 of Indonesia's 38 provinces. While most provinces in Java have exceeded the target, Banten remains a challenge with a 75 percent achievement rate.

In a separate initiative to support low-income communities, the Ministry of Housing and Residential Areas (PKP) is collaborating with ATR/BPN to provide free land ownership certificates (SHM). The government aims to issue 1 million free certificates in 2026, with a total quota of 8 million recipients planned through 2028. This program targets individuals receiving government housing assistance, such as the Self-Help Housing Stimulant Assistance (BSPS) program, to ensure legal certainty over their property.
