Bulog distributes 110,000 tons of rice to stabilize Indonesian market prices

Perum BULOG is implementing several measures to stabilize rice prices and ensure food security across Indonesia. The state logistics agency is distributing 110,000 tons of rice—comprising 75,000 tons of premium and 35,000 tons of medium rice—to traditional markets and modern retail networks including PT Hero Retail Nusantara, PT Sumber Alfaria Trijaya, and PT Indomarco Prismatama. This intervention aims to keep prices within the designated maximum retail price (HET).

In regional efforts, Bulog Magelang has distributed over 21,884 tons of rice as social assistance to more than 729,000 recipients, while Jayawijaya has begun distributing 976,740 tons of food aid across 40 districts. In South Sumatra, officials confirmed that rice stocks remain sufficient for the next 10 months, noting that recent market fluctuations are driven by increased demand for premium rice rather than scarcity.

Looking ahead, the government is planning to pilot direct cash transfers for social assistance in the first half of 2027 to improve targeting accuracy. Coordinating with the National Food Agency, Bulog is also conducting simultaneous market inspections nationwide to monitor commodity prices and distribution stability. As of early September 2026, Bulog manages approximately 4.9 million tons of government rice reserves.
