Indonesia Accelerates Waste‑to‑Energy Projects in Bekasi and Palembang
Mayor Tri Adhianto Tjahyono of Bekasi confirmed the city’s commitment to a national strategic waste‑to‑energy (PSEL) plant at Bantar Gebang, partnering with Danantara, Wangmeng Environment Co., and Zhejiang Weiming Environment Protection. Ground‑breaking is planned for August 2026 with operations targeted for 2028.
Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka inspected the construction of a PSEL facility on Jalan Keramasan in Palembang’s Kertapati district. Mayor Ratu Dewa highlighted the shift from Presidential Regulation 35/2018 to 109/2025, stressing funding, institutional arrangements, and accelerated physical work to ensure the project’s timely completion.
