Indonesia advances financial governance with BRI Finance partnership and BPR consolidation
BRI Finance signed a cooperation agreement with the Padang District Prosecutor's Office on 5 June 2026 to obtain legal assistance for civil and administrative cases, aiming to strengthen corporate governance, risk mitigation and asset quality. The agreement was signed by Padang Prosecutor Dr. Koswara and BRI Finance Padang branch head Basrial, with BRI Finance’s corporate secretary emphasizing the commitment to “operate based on prudence and compliance with legal provisions.”
The Financial Services Authority (OJK) approved the merger of eight rural banks (BPRs) into PT BPR Pusaka Dana, effective 1 July 2026, to boost sector resilience, expand operational reach across Banten, West Java, Central Java and East Java, and improve financial inclusion. OJK’s Banten provincial head Adi Dharma noted that the consolidation will be overseen to ensure effective post‑merger integration and higher competitiveness.
