Bank Indonesia rolls out integrated UMKM entrepreneurship transformation programme

Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo inaugurated the Integrated UMKM Entrepreneurship Transformation Programme in Jakarta on 22 June 2026. The initiative targets job creation and the strengthening of Indonesia’s “people‑centered” economy. It builds on statistics from the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small‑Medium Enterprises showing UMKM contribute 60.5 % of GDP, employ 90 % of the workforce and account for 15 % of exports.

The programme will operate nationwide through 46 regional Bank Indonesia offices, engaging more than 3 000 UMKM participants and over 1 500 Islamic boarding schools (pesantren). Four flagship projects are slated for 2026: Cangkir Barista, which will certify 400 baristas and support coffee‑shop start‑ups; Citra Nusa, aimed at boosting the competitiveness of Indonesian textile firms for export markets; Air Berkah Indonesia, focused on pesantren‑run water‑bottling enterprises; and a fourth unnamed initiative. Warjiyo stressed that entrepreneurial capacity, business‑model testing and strong cooperation among banks, ministries and private stakeholders are essential for the programme’s impact.
