Indonesia and Japan Naval Forces Deepen Cooperation in Jakarta

Indonesia’s navy, through the Kodaeral III command, welcomed the Japanese warship JS Ikazuchi (DD‑107) at Dock 107 in Tanjung Priok, Jakarta, on 22 May. The visit was a courtesy call that included a reception ceremony featuring the traditional Tapak Dara dance. After the ceremony, senior officers from the Indonesian and Japanese navies held a closed‑door meeting to discuss expanding defence cooperation, including plans for joint training exercises aimed at bolstering maritime security in the region. Indonesian commander Laksamana Muda Uki Prasetia said the engagement would "further solidify synergy between our navies to face maritime security challenges," while Japanese commander Nobukazu Ryuso was received warmly.
