Indonesia and Malaysia boost skilled migrant worker placement agreements

Indonesia's Minister of Migrant Worker Protection, Mukhtarudin, met senior officials in Kuala Lumpur, including members of the Malaysian Chinese Association and the Ministry of Human Resources. The discussions focused on expanding formal, skill‑based employment for Indonesian workers in Malaysia and finalising a memorandum of understanding to guide cooperation.

Both parties aim to shift placement towards medium‑ and high‑skill roles, such as healthcare and engineering, and to curb illegal employment. A joint working group is expected to be created to develop a long‑term roadmap for talent development and to strengthen migrant protection systems in Malaysia.
