Indonesia and South Korea deepen tourism and economic partnership

Indonesian Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana met South Korean Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Chae Hwi Young in Macau on June 27, on the sidelines of the 13th APEC Tourism Ministerial. The two sides discussed expanding tourism cooperation, joint promotional campaigns with the Korea Tourism Organization, and developing gastronomy as a special‑interest segment, noting South Korea as a key source market. Indonesia welcomed Seoul’s temporary visa‑free entry program for Indonesian tour groups that began on May 28.

In Jakarta, the Korea‑Indonesia Economic Partnership Forum 2026 was held at the Kempinski Ballroom, attended by Korean ambassador Yoon Songu, Korean Chamber of Commerce head Lee Kang Hyun, Indonesia’s finance minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa and senior customs and tax officials. The forum aimed to strengthen trade and investment under the Indonesia‑Korea Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, focusing on operational certainty, industrial cooperation, customs digitalisation and support for micro, small and medium enterprises.
