Indonesia announces 2027 national holidays and collective leave

The Indonesian government has officially announced the schedule for national holidays and collective leave days for 2027. The decision was formalized through a Joint Ministerial Decree (SKB) signed by the Minister of Religious Affairs, the Minister of Manpower, and the Minister of State Apparatus Utilization and Bureaucratic Reform.

According to Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs Pratikno, the calendar includes 18 national holidays and 8 collective leave days. The majority of the holidays are religious in nature. The scheduling took into account religious observance, public mobility, and the alignment of holidays with weekends to facilitate travel.

Collective leave is mandatory for civil servants (ASN), while it remains optional for the private sector. Notable features of the 2027 calendar include two observances of Isra Mikraj due to the shift between the Gregorian and Hijri calendars. The government also emphasized that essential public services, such as hospitals, banking, and transportation, must arrange staff rotations to ensure continuous service during these periods.
