Indonesia approves state‑budget funding for PPPK civil‑servant salaries

On 8 June 2026 the Indonesian House of Representatives’ Commission II, together with the Ministries of Home Affairs and Administrative Reform, agreed to allocate the salaries of contract civil servants (PPPK) to the state budget (APBN). Heti Kustrianingsih, chair of the Forum Komunikasi ASN PPPK, welcomed the decision, saying it will prevent local governments from dismissing PPPK staff for lack of funds.

The move follows longstanding pressure from PPPK employees, who feel treated as a lower tier than permanent civil servants (PNS) despite comparable performance. With salary funding secured, the association is now urging a gradual conversion of PPPK positions to permanent PNS status without age limits.
