The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has introduced new safety protocols for the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program, including mandatory labels requiring meals to be consumed within four hours of preparation. BGN Chief Sudaryono has also urged students and teachers not to take meals home to prevent food poisoning caused by improper storage and quality degradation.

Simultaneously, the Indonesian Attorney General's Office is investigating alleged corruption within the MBG program's management for the 2025-2026 period. Several high-ranking officials, including former BGN Head Dadan Hindayana and former deputies, have been named as suspects. Investigators have summoned numerous witnesses, including BGN experts, agency staff, and various company directors, to clarify the case.

In response to these legal challenges, BGN leadership met with Attorney General ST Burhanuddin to discuss legal assistance, legal audits, and enhanced field supervision to improve governance. Despite the ongoing investigations, the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) Commission XI stated that the government will continue the MBG program, emphasizing the need for increased transparency and accountability.
