Indonesia authorities respond to fatal bullying case in Pemalang

The Indonesian Ministry of Women Empowerment and Child Protection (Kemen PPPA) and the Central Java provincial government are implementing measures following a fatal bullying incident in Pemalang, Central Java. Two children involved in the case have been assigned to six months of rehabilitation at the Antasena Social Welfare Institution in Magelang, a measure taken under the Juvenile Criminal Justice System Law to provide legal accountability and education.

Central Java authorities are coordinating with social services, police, and education departments to provide ongoing assistance to the victim's family. To prevent future incidents, officials are advocating for improved school safety, including the installation of CCTV in potential blind spots, the implementation of positive discipline, and stronger communication between schools and families.
