Indonesia auto market posts sales surge, Chinese brands gain in June 2026

Retail car sales in Indonesia rose to 74,507 units in June 2026, up from 71,687 in May, bringing the January‑June total to 433,848 units. BYD remained the top Chinese brand with 3,757 units sold, followed by Jaecoo (3,050) and Geely (2,038). The overall market showed a recovery after a previous slowdown, with Toyota, Daihatsu, Suzuki and other manufacturers also reporting solid numbers.

Bus sales for the first half of 2026 reached 1,968 units, staying relatively stable. Small‑size buses (5‑10 ton) accounted for 1,373 units (about 70 % of the market). The leading models were Isuzu’s NLR55 B (547 units) and Mitsubishi Fuso’s FE84G BC (344 units), with Isuzu’s NQR71 EC adding 161 units. In the 10‑24 ton segment, Hino’s RM280 STD sold 252 units, ahead of Mercedes‑Benz’s OH1626L (160 units). Large buses over 24 ton recorded 31 units, led by Mercedes‑Benz’s O500 RSD 2445 Maxi (19 units) and Scania’s K‑series (5 units each).
