Indonesia expands UMKM support with e‑commerce fee caps and export assistance
Indonesia's government is rolling out multiple initiatives to strengthen micro, small and medium enterprises (UMKM). The Kutai Kartanegara district labor office opened access to the Siap Kerja recruitment platform for any employer holding a Business Identification Number, enabling UMKM to post jobs directly.
In Central Java, DPRD Vice‑Chair Mohammad Saleh urged broader access to low‑interest KUR loans and greater bank financing to sustain the sector's growth, noting that UMKM employ millions and contribute to a 5.89% regional GDP rise.
Aceh’s Lhokseumawe customs office announced assistance programmes to help UMKM meet international standards, offering export facilitation and customs education.
A nationwide ministerial regulation (Permen UMKM No. 3/2026) now bars e‑commerce platforms from changing seller fees unilaterally, requires transparent fee disclosure, and mandates a minimum 50% service‑fee discount for verified local‑product sellers. The rule also reinforces mandatory BPJS health and employment insurance participation for marketplace sellers.
The Ministry of UMKM highlighted additional support measures: a tax‑final‑rate scheme offering 0.5% or 0% income‑tax for low‑turnover UMKM, and AI‑driven training via the SAPA UMKM app to improve digital readiness and market access. Together, these actions aim to boost domestic product competitiveness, expand export opportunities, and sustain job creation across Indonesia.
