Indonesia beats Oman 3-0 in FIFA Match Day, heralds youth breakthrough

Indonesia's national football team recorded a 3-0 victory over Oman at Jakarta's Gelora Bung Karno stadium on June 5, ending a 38‑year winless streak against the Omani side. Goals were scored by Justin Hubner, Ole Romeny and Ragnar Oratmangoen.

Coach John Herdman was praised by PSSI chief Erick Thohir for introducing three young players – Dony Tri Pamungkas (21), Mauro Zijlstra (21) and 17‑year‑old Matthew Baker, who set a record as the youngest debutant for the senior side. Thohir highlighted the move as vital for the regeneration of Indonesian football.

The win is expected to boost Indonesia’s FIFA ranking, currently 122, ahead of a forthcoming match against Mozambique on June 9.
