Indonesia Begins Admissions for New Integrated National Schools, Aims to Build 500 by 2029
Indonesia's Ministry of Education and Culture started the first round of admissions for 17 National Integrated Schools (SNT) on Tuesday, 21 July 2026. The selection process runs through 24 July, with results announced on 3 August and school orientation beginning on 10 August. Minister Abdul Mu'ti highlighted that the process will be objective, transparent, inclusive, and accountable, and warned against unofficial promises of admission.
The government also announced a plan to construct a total of 500 SNTs across the country by 2029, following President's Instruction No. 10 of 2026. Seventeen schools will start operations for the 2026/27 academic year, while 20 additional sites will open in 2027. The integrated schools combine junior and senior high education, feature modern facilities such as smart classrooms, green campuses, and comprehensive teacher development centers, and aim to bring high‑quality education closer to local communities.
