Indonesia begins Hajj 2027 preparations and officer recruitment

Preparations for the 2027 Hajj pilgrimage are underway in Indonesia, focusing on both pilgrim readiness and staff recruitment. In Pandeglang, hundreds of prospective pilgrims have begun mandatory medical check-ups to meet 'istitaah' requirements. This process evaluates physical and mental health, as well as financial and security readiness, to ensure candidates are capable of performing the pilgrimage.

Simultaneously, the government is managing a massive recruitment drive for Hajj organizers. Approximately 75,000 individuals have applied for positions, though the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah expects to accept fewer than 1,000 candidates due to limited quotas. To improve accessibility, the recruitment process has been decentralized through a partnership with the National Civil Service Agency (BKN), allowing applicants to undergo selection tests in their respective regions rather than traveling to Jakarta.
