Indonesia boosts Bali LPG 3‑kg supply as Aceh faces severe shortages

Pertamina Patra Niaga increased the distribution of subsidised 3‑kg LPG cylinders in Bali, adding 417,200 cylinders (approximately 477 metric tonnes) to meet the heightened demand during the Islamic New Year (1 Muharram) and the Hindu holidays Galungan and Kuningan. The extra supply covered up to 95 % of the island’s average daily consumption, and the company urged residents to purchase fuel responsibly and avoid panic buying.

In contrast, the district of Pidie in Aceh has experienced a three‑week shortage of the same subsidised LPG. Residents report that official distribution points are often closed or out of stock, forcing households to revert to firewood for cooking. Informal sellers are charging 30,000–35,000 rupiah per cylinder, straining micro‑entrepreneurs and low‑income families. Despite a large network of agents and nearly 880 official outlets in the area, the shortage persists, prompting calls for stricter monitoring and distribution oversight.
