Indonesia boosts electric vehicle sales with discounts and tax breaks
Transmart is running a Full Day Sale that cuts prices of electric bicycles sharply. In Java, the price drops from IDR 6.45 million to IDR 3.68 million, while outside Java the price falls to IDR 3.92 million. The promotion, available on July 19 2026, is limited to customers using Bank Mega, Bank Mega Syariah or Bank Mandiri and also covers a range of other consumer goods.
The Jakarta provincial government has introduced a 0 percent Vehicle Tax (PKB) on battery‑electric cars. The exemption removes the annual tax burden for electric‑car owners, complementing lower operating costs and supporting the city’s push for greener transportation.
Both measures aim to encourage wider adoption of electric mobility in Indonesia by making e‑bikes more affordable and reducing the cost of owning an electric car.
