Indonesia celebrates National Children’s Day with school events in Yogyakarta and West Papua

On 22 July 2026 Indonesia marked the 42nd National Children’s Day (Hari Anak Nasional). In Sleman, a ceremony at the UNESCO‑listed Prambanan temple complex brought together 380 students and 54 teachers from 27 junior high and vocational schools. Participants explored the site’s history and cultural values, with organisers highlighting the importance of heritage education amid rapid globalization.

In Teminabuan, Sorong Selatan, hundreds of pupils joined a walking rally that began at the district education office and proceeded to SMP Negeri 3. The march, carried the slogan “Sayang Anak, Lindungi dan Bangun Masa Depan,” and included activities on child protection, anti‑bullying and stunting reduction. Local officials stressed the need to uphold children’s rights and provide supportive environments for learning.
