Indonesia chicken and egg prices rise after school term, Agriculture Minister says

Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman said chicken and egg prices have risen in the past week as schools resumed after the holiday break. He linked the increase to higher demand and to the government's free nutritious meal program (MBG), which acts as an off‑taker for livestock output and provides market certainty for roughly 160 million farmers, ranchers and growers.

The National Strategic Food Price Information Center (PIHPS) published current retail prices: chicken eggs Rp31,950 per kilogram, fresh chicken meat Rp46,450 per kilogram, red chilies between Rp57,550 and Rp64,100 per kilogram, and rice of various grades ranging from Rp16,700 to Rp19,200 per kilogram. Other staples such as onions, garlic, sugar and cooking oil were also listed at their latest rates.
