Indonesia Completes Hajj 2026 Successfully, Reduces Waiting Period to 26 Years

The Government Communication Agency (Bakom) announced that Indonesia's Hajj pilgrimage for the Islamic year 1447 (2026 CE) was carried out smoothly, safely and in an orderly manner. For the first time, the entire operation was managed by the newly formed Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.

A total of 220,247 regular Indonesian pilgrims completed all rites in Saudi Arabia and are being repatriated, with the final convoy expected to arrive in Indonesia on 1 July. The government highlighted several improvements: faster visa processing, distribution of the digital Kartu Nusuk identity card, fast‑track immigration (Makkah Route) at Jeddah and Medina airports, upgraded accommodation, food services and transport.

Bakom chief Muhammad Qodari said, “Alhamdulillah, we have fulfilled this great mandate very well,” and emphasized the priority of comfort, order and happiness for the pilgrims. Pilgrim M. Arsad, a 75‑year‑old from Jakarta who waited 12 years for his turn, praised the attentive health monitoring and quality of meals. The authorities aim to further shorten the average waiting time, which has already been reduced from about 47 years to 26 years.
