IHSG volatility follows Bank Indonesia interest rate decision
The Indonesia Composite Index (IHSG) experienced significant volatility during late September 2026. Following a strong gain of 1.56 percent to the 6,374 level on Wednesday, September 23, the index faced downward pressure on Thursday, September 24, dropping to approximately 6,289.
Market movements were heavily influenced by Bank Indonesia's decision to maintain the BI Rate at 5.75 percent. While this decision aimed to stabilize the Rupiah and support economic growth, investors remained cautious due to external factors, including rising US government bond yields and geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
In a separate effort to synchronize national economic policy, Deputy Speaker of the DPR Sufmi Dasco Ahmad held a meeting with key officials from the Ministry of Finance, Bank Indonesia, OJK, and Danantara. The meeting focused on ensuring that fiscal, monetary, and investment policies work in a mutually supportive direction rather than operating in isolation.
