Indonesia Stock Exchange to lower minimum stock price to Rp1
The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) is set to lower its minimum stock price from Rp50 to Rp1 starting September 28, 2026. IDX President Director Jeffrey Hendrik stated the move aims to boost liquidity and improve price discovery for stocks that have been stagnant at the previous floor. The Financial Services Authority (OJK) noted that the policy is intended to help market participants find more accurate valuations.
Simultaneously, the IDX composite index (IHSG) has faced significant volatility and downward pressure. During the week of September 21-25, 2026, the IHSG fell by 3.09%, resulting in a market capitalization loss of approximately Rp361 trillion. Market fluctuations have been influenced by global sentiments, including US-China trade relations, US-Iran tensions, and rising oil prices.
In separate regulatory news, OJK has revoked the business licenses of 15 rural banks (BPR/BPRS) through September 2026. The Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) is managing the liquidation process and guaranteeing customer funds for eligible banks. Additionally, Danantara Indonesia has expressed interest in acquiring a stake in the IDX, though OJK maintains that any ownership exceeding 5% requires formal approval and must preserve the exchange's independence.
