Indonesia Stock Exchange Composite rises 1.8% weekly despite Friday dip

The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) Composite experienced volatility during the trading week ending September 4, 2026. While the index saw a weekly gain of approximately 1.82 percent, closing at 6,636.475, Friday's session saw a decline. The IDX Composite fell by 0.47 percent to close at 6,636.48, driven largely by profit-taking activities ahead of the weekend and caution regarding upcoming domestic economic data, such as foreign exchange reserves and consumer confidence indices.

Despite the Friday dip, the total number of capital market investors in Indonesia has grown significantly, reaching 30.3 million as of August 7, 2026, an increase of 9.9 million compared to previous periods.

In terms of market activity, foreign investors recorded a net buy of Rp124.85 billion during the first session on Friday, with significant interest in PT Dian Swastatika Sentosa Tbk (DSSA) and PT Timah Tbk (TINS). However, the overall weekly trend showed a net sell by foreign investors totaling Rp68.05 trillion for the year 2026.
