Indonesia economic update: IHSG volatility and Rupiah fluctuations

Indonesia's economic landscape shows mixed signals as the Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) experiences volatility. While some reports indicate the IHSG strengthening due to foreign investor accumulation in large-cap banking stocks like BBRI, BBCA, and BMRI, others warn of potential corrections driven by global bond selling pressures and geopolitical tensions between the US and Iran.

The Indonesian Rupiah has shown movement against the US Dollar, influenced by weakening US employment data and domestic inflation concerns. While the Rupiah saw periods of strengthening, analysts note that rising food prices and global geopolitical instability remain significant risks to currency stability.

In social and microeconomic sectors, the Ministry of SMEs is allocating approximately Rp115.77 billion to rehabilitate over 38,000 micro-businesses in West Sumatra affected by disasters. Additionally, the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas is conducting studies on innovative housing concepts, such as residential structures built over rivers, to address urban density while adhering to environmental regulations.
