NTT earthquake recovery: Infrastructure and aid efforts intensify
Following a magnitude 7.7 earthquake in Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT), extensive humanitarian and recovery efforts are underway. BNPB reports 111 deaths and 188,161 displaced persons. BMKG has recorded over 10,000 aftershocks, including 35 events exceeding magnitude 5.
Infrastructure recovery is progressing, with the Ministry of Public Works reporting that all disconnected national roads and bridges have been 100 percent functionalized within two weeks. Telkom Akses deployed over 150 technicians, restoring full telecommunications connectivity within three days.
Aid distribution is being managed by various sectors. Bulog has distributed over 1,321 tons of rice and maintains a stock of 24,134 tons across 46 warehouses in NTT to ensure food security. Gojek and the GoTo Merah Putih Foundation are providing cash assistance to affected driver partners. Other contributions include medical services from PMI DIY and Semen Padang Peduli, as well as food and logistics from regional governments and private organizations.
