Indonesia Sets Rp15,000 per Liter Special Fuel Price for Fishermen

President Prabowo Subianto approved a special subsidised price of Rp15,000 per litre for diesel fuel sold to fishing operators using vessels of 30‑200 gross tons. The price, calculated against an average domestic solar production cost of Rp18,600 per litre, will be funded by the Badan Pengelola Dana Perkebunan (BPDP) with a subsidy of roughly Rp3,600 per litre, leaving the state budget untouched. The scheme covers a quota of 400,000 tonnes for six months and will be administered by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources in coordination with the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries.

The Indonesian Fishermen Union (HNSI) welcomed the measure, saying it eases operating costs and strengthens the national fisheries sector. "Kami mengapresiasi langkah Presiden Prabowo yang telah menghadirkan kebijakan konkret untuk meringankan beban biaya operasional nelayan," said Riswanto, chair of HNSI’s Central Java board. The policy aims to improve productivity and the welfare of coastal communities across the archipelago.
