Indonesia cyberattacks surge to 234.5 million in 2025
Indonesia experienced a massive surge in cyberattacks throughout 2025. Data from BPSDM Komdigi shows that attacks rose from 133.4 million in the first half of the year to 234.5 million in the second half. A significant spike occurred in December 2025, reaching 90.5 million attacks.
Network protocol manipulation was the most prevalent attack type, accounting for 47 percent of incidents. This was followed by administrative privilege takeover at 37 percent, and scanning and reconnaissance at 16 percent. Other recorded methods included information leakage and miscellaneous HTTP attacks.
Geographically, Tangerang and Yogyakarta were identified as the cities with the highest volume of cyberattacks. Tangerang saw a dramatic increase from 0.2 percent of attacks in the first half of the year to 19.13 percent in the second half.
