Indonesia deepens industrial ties with Malaysia and United States

Indonesia and Malaysia held high‑level talks in Kuala Lumpur to boost cooperation in the halal sector and improve transport connectivity. Ambassador Raden Dato' Mohammad Iman Hascarya Kusumo and Malaysia’s Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi discussed plans for an annual Indonesia‑Malaysia consultation, the opening of roll‑on/roll‑off routes, and joint promotion of halal products and exhibitions.

In Washington, Indonesia’s ambassador Indroyono Soesilo met with the US Chamber of Commerce, AmCham Indonesia and US business leaders, including Boeing, to expand Indonesia’s role as a production partner for American firms. The dialogue highlighted Boeing’s long‑standing relationship with PT Dirgantara Indonesia, projected demand for 600 new aircraft by 2036, and cooperation on sustainable aviation fuel and workforce development.

Both meetings underline Jakarta’s strategy to position the country not only as a market but also as a key manufacturing partner in regional supply chains, leveraging its large population and growing economic sectors.
