Indonesia delays Panda Bond issuance to July 2026

Indonesia’s Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa announced that the government’s yuan‑denominated Panda Bond, originally slated for June 2026, will be postponed to the end of July 2026. The move is intended to give investors more time to consider the offering and to maximise absorption. The bond is targeted at US$1 billion, with the possibility of scaling up if market demand permits. Chinese investors, including large fund managers such as the China Investment Corporation and the Export‑Import Bank of China, have expressed strong interest, and some have offered to act as underwriters.

The Acting Director General of Financial Stability and Development, Herman Saheruddin, confirmed that the issuance schedule remains on track for late June or early July, pending final licensing from the People’s Bank of China (PBOC). Recent meetings in Beijing between Indonesian officials and PBOC Governor Pan Gongsheng have secured PBOC’s supportive stance and accelerated the paperwork process. The Panda Bond is part of Indonesia’s strategy to diversify international financing sources and bolster rupiah stability.
