In Karawang Regency, West Java, the local disaster agency (BPBD) reported that 2,585 families, or 7,704 residents, in six villages across three sub‑districts were affected by a water‑scarcity crisis during the 2026 dry season. By 20 July, the agency had distributed 152,000 liters of clean water to the villages of Mulangsari, Kutalanggeng, Cintalanggeng, Mulyasejati, Kutanegara and Parungmulya, and continues daily supplies while urging residents to conserve water.
In Klaten Regency, Central Java, BPBD officials said 3,319 families, or 10,858 people, in four villages on the slopes of Mount Merapi (Tlogowatu, Tegalmulyo, Kendalsari and Sidorejo) faced similar drought conditions. Since 15 June, the agency has delivered 306 water tanks amounting to 1.53 million liters, and by 21 July total deliveries reached 321 tanks (1.605 million liters). Ongoing daily drop‑off missions aim to meet the basic water needs of the affected communities.
