Indonesia denies rumors of Pertalite fuel price hike
The Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) and Pertamina have issued formal denials regarding viral social media claims that the price of subsidized Pertalite fuel would increase to Rp13,500 per liter on September 26, 2026. Officials characterized these reports as hoaxes.
Minister of ESDM Bahlil Lahadalia has previously stated that subsidized fuel prices, including Pertalite and Solar, will remain unchanged through the end of 2026 to protect the purchasing power of lower-to-middle-income citizens, despite fluctuations in global oil prices. Pertamina Patra Niaga also confirmed that there are no planned adjustments to subsidized fuel prices and urged the public to rely on official channels, such as the Pertamina Contact Center 135, to avoid misinformation.
In separate regional developments, stakeholders in Riau have raised concerns regarding the scarcity of subsidized diesel (Solar). During a meeting with the Riau Provincial DPRD, the Laskar Melayu Bersatu (LLMB) called for the formation of a task force to investigate potential distribution irregularities and mismanagement that have contributed to the shortage.
