Indonesia designates waste‑to‑energy projects in Bekasi, Bogor and Denpasar as strategic national initiatives

The Indonesian government has classified three waste‑to‑energy facilities in Bekasi, Bogor Raya and Denpasar as Strategic National Projects under the 2025 Coordinating Ministry Regulation. The projects, managed by PT Danantara Investment Management, Nusantara Bogor New Energy and Nusantara Bali New Energy, aim to convert urban waste into electricity, reduce landfill use, cut greenhouse‑gas emissions and expand the country’s renewable‑energy mix. CEOs Pandu Sjahrir and Fadli Rahman said the status will accelerate construction and provide cross‑ministerial coordination.

Separately, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources refuted claims that recent rolling blackouts in the Jakarta‑Bogor‑Depok‑Tangerang‑Bekasi (Jabodetabek) area were caused by dwindling coal stocks. Spokesperson Dwi Anggia insisted the outages stemmed from technical faults, affirmed coal supplies remain secure, and warned the public against misinformation about future cuts. The ministry highlighted ongoing coordination with PLN and smooth progress of the coal RKAB plan.
