Indonesia dispatches 1,509 Unhan cadets to 181 People's Schools

Indonesian Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf and Deputy Minister of Defense Donny Ermawan Taufanto officially dispatched 1,509 cadets and personnel from the Defense University of Indonesia (Unhan RI) to serve in 181 'Sekolah Rakyat' (People's Schools) across the country.

The deployment, occurring from October 9 to October 27, 2026, aims to strengthen character building, discipline, and academic support for children from underprivileged families. The initiative is a follow-up to a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Ministry of Defense, supporting President Prabowo Subianto’s strategic program to break the cycle of poverty and prepare for the 'Indonesia Emas 2045' vision.

Minister Yusuf emphasized that the cadets should act as role models, instilling discipline and responsibility in students who may face challenges adapting to boarding school environments. Deputy Minister Taufanto noted that this cross-ministerial collaboration is essential for human resource development and addressing social issues through national unity.
