Overview

Indonesia has initiated several programs involving military and defense personnel to support national discipline and character building. In August 2026, the second wave of military training began for 2,065 civil servants intended for the national reserve component (Komcad). Lieutenant General Gabriel Lemam, Head of the National Reserve Agency, described the reserve component as a “force multiplier” designed to instill basic military skills, leadership, and loyalty in participants.

Following this, the Ministry of Social Affairs announced a collaboration with the Ministry of Defense to deploy 1,289 cadets from the Defense University of Indonesia (Unhan RI) to Sekolah Rakyat. Scheduled for October 2026, these cadets will serve as mentors to students from low socio-economic backgrounds, focusing on fostering responsibility and patriotism through child-friendly activities while strictly prohibiting violence and bullying.
